Limited Edition Black Hawk Statue

blackhawkstatue"The Eternal Indian", most commonly known as the Black Hawk Statue, was created and built in 1910 and dedicated in 1911.   World renowned artist, Lorado Taft sculpted the 50 foot monolith which stands majestically over the Rock River in Oregon, Illinois at Lowden State Park.  This location was selected because it was once home to the Eagle's Nest Art Colony, which Taft help found in 1898.  The statue was recently added to the National Historic Registry and currently holds the record as the 2nd largest monolith in the world.

The 15 inch replica was made possible through the generosity of the Oregon Public Library who allowed Dr. Harry and Karly Spell, owners of Art Castings of Illinois, to use an original working model by Taft himself, to cast and create this beautiful statue.

The Oregon Trail Days Committee is selling two types of statues as their primary fundraiser for the festival.  15 inch plaster statues with a bronze like finish are available for $300.

There are only 100 of these statues being created.  Once they have been sold out there will not be any more produced.

Additionally, 25 bronze statues are being created and sold.  These statues are also 15 inches tall and are solid bronze.  The cost is $1500. All proceeds go towards the creation of the Oregon Trail Days Festival.
